1829 10C Curl Base 2--Damaged--ANACS. VF20 Details. JR-10, Low R.6. John Reich Collectors Society authors (1984) call this "An extremely rare variety that is one of the rarest in the capped bust series. Finest seen is F-15 (The discovery piece purchased from a dealer's stock in Dayton, Ohio in 1973)." The VF20 Details example presented here displays golden-brown and electric-blue toning in the fields which offsets silvery, well defined design elements. All of the letters in LIBERTY and E PLURIBUS UNUM are bold, as are the remaining letters and numerals. The star centrils are quite strong in most cases, and the central motifs exhibit good remaining detail for the grade. A few scrapes account for the "Damaged" label, the most noticeable located at the back of Liberty's neck. As is apparent from the images of this coin, it can be seen that the "damage" on the piece sounds worse than it really is.
From The Reginald Byron Mason Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
