1828 N-9 R4 PCGS graded MS65RB. PCGS graded MS-65 Red & Brown. Lustrous mint red fading to steel and light chocolate brown with 25% of the original color remaining on the obverse, 50% on the reverse. The only marks are a few tiny spots of darker toning in the field close before the face, some more over the T in CENT, and a tiny pinscratch close over the upper right point of star 11. Great eye appeal. Nicely struck, only two of the stars not showing full radial lines. E-MDS. The dentils are crisp around both sides and the fine die lines at F-A are clear. Called MS65 choice and CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #21243. Bland says MS65 and CC#1 as well. According to Noyes, there are only 2 other examples in mint state, both MS62, and Bland's census lists this piece as the only confirmed mint state example. Our grade is MS64+, close to MS65.
