Frosty light brown with small areas of darker olive brown toning in protected areas. Possibly retoned. The surfaces are smooth and the eye appeal of this cent is nice, but a glass reveals several fine, light scratches on the obverse and one slanting through EN in CENT. The scratches are mostly confined to the portrait but they are old and do not break the toning. The best identifying marks are a dull scratch along the jawline left of the ear lobe and a small rim nick over the second T in STATES. Our grade is VF30 sharpness net VF20. A variety that is very difficult to find in grades above Fine. AUCTION TERMS OF SALE
1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 15% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.
