1828 C-3 R1. PCGS graded MS-63 Red. Highly lustrous bright mint red faded to steel brown on the highpoints, about 80% of the original color remaining. A gem example if not for some microscopic contact marks in the field before the chin. The reverse is a solid gem. A very impressive half cent with exceptional original mint color. MDS, Manley state 3.0. A faint die clashmark from the H in HALF shows at the throat. Our grade is MS64. The attribution and Carvin Goodridge provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; the only Red graded for the variety (#35263).
