1827 N-1 R2 PCGS graded MS64BN. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Lustrous bluish steel and light chocolate brown with traces of faded mint color showing on both sides. There are a few tiny specks of darker toning at stars 5-8, a few tiny ticks left of star 12, and microscopic planchet marks around the weakly struck E in CENT (pre-striking planchet imperfections that didn't completely press out when the cent was struck). E-MDS with multiple fine die clashmarks inside the wreath but no crumbling at the dentils between stars 5-6. Nicely struck except for stars 5-7, the hair along the top of the head, and at the aforementioned E in CENT. Noyes says AU50 and tied for CC#6, his photo #20768. Our grade is MS60. PCGS Population 2; none finer. Estimated Value $1,000-UP. Ex T. James Clarke-Abe Kosoff 4/56:214-Dr. James O. Sloss, Abe Kosoff 10/21/59:164-Dr. Kenneth J. Sartoris-Del Bland-Jerry A.
