<B>1827 50C Square Base 2 MS65 PCGS.</B></I> O-120a, R.4. Bold die lines near the bust truncation provide ready identification from the myriad die combinations of this widely collected date. A well preserved example with pleasing cartwheel shimmer. The back of Liberty's portrait offers rich almond-gold and russet toning, while the fields are milky pearl-gray. The major devices are intricately struck, albeit some of the right side stars are not fully brought up. 1827 halves survive in quantity in VF and XF grades, but Gems are seldom encountered.
