<B>1826 HK-1 Erie Canal Completion, MS60 NGC.</B></I> White metal. A super example with full original mint luster on the medal. Issued by the Common Council, City of New York, designed by Archibald Robertson, engraved by Charles Cushing Wright, "the first die-sinker in the United States," and struck by Maltby Pedetreau. Listed in 1963 as the first so-called dollar in the standard Hibler-Kappen reference catalog, and still the standard reference today.
