1826 Erie Canal Completion MS61 NGC. HK-1000. Silver. According to the 1963 Hibler and Kappen standard reference, "the silver specimen is uncollectible, with White Metal extremely rare." The white metal variety is HK-1, the first entry in the So-Called Dollars reference. The silver piece is listed near the end of the volume, in Part IV under "Unique and Near-Unique Issues." Needless to say, this lot provides a major opportunity for the devoted so-called dollar specialist. The splendid design was engraved by C.C. Wright. A well struck piece with satiny luster. Deep golden-brown and olive toning helps conceal moderate handling marks and a small pit on the right reverse field.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
