1826 C-2 R3+ Repunched 6 PCGS graded AU details, environmental damage. Sharpness near EF45 but there are patches of shallow corrosion on the lower half of the obverse, including a pit at the dentil tips under the 2 in the date. The remainder of the planchet is smooth, and the reverse is nearly flawless. Glossy dark chocolate and olive mixed with lighter brown and chocolate tones on the obverse. Extremely rare LDS, Manley state 4.0. A strong cud break covers most of stars 4 & 5 and connects them to the rim. This is the Manley plate coin for his die state 4.0. Overall comparable to the VF20 example we sold in the Davy II sale, 9/4/2011, lot 402, that brought $12,650. Our grade is net VF20. The PCGS label includes the Cohen-2 variety designation and Carvin Goodridge provenance (#35255).
