1826 C-1 R1 PCGS graded MS65 Brown
1826 C-1 R1. PCGS graded MS-65 Brown. Choice lustrous steel and light chocolate brown with generous traces of mellowed mint red remaining, mostly on the obverse. Great eye appeal. The only mark is a tiny swipe of darker olive toning on the E in AMERICA. Very sharply struck M-LDS, Manley state 4.0. Most of the die lines right of the date remain visible but only a couple from the top of the head are still visible, and they are weak. This is the plate coin for the variety in the Manley book and also plated to represent his die state 4.0. Our grade is MS63. The attribution and Carvin Goodridge provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; the finest of 3 of this variety graded at PCGS (#35252).
Estimated Value $2,000-UP.

Provenance: Ex Bernstein collection, Stack's 4/30/1986:44 (lot ticket included).
