1826 Andrew Jackson Broadside
1826 Andrew Jackson Broadside Featuring Patriotic Poetry - "Champlain, Plattsburgh, & Orlean - Honor the Brave!!". 11.5" x 18.5", framed and matted under glass to an overall size of 13.75" x 20.2", Cincinnati, "published for the amusement of all Patriots, who glory in American Valor", 1826. An appealing broadside containing three poems celebrating America's "Splendid Battles" during the War of 1812. Includes a stirring ode titled "Gen. Jackson's Victory at New Orleans" - "…But Jackson he was wide awake, and was not scar'd at trifles; For well he knew what aim we'd take, With our Kentucky rifles…"; a ditty about Thomas MacDonough's naval victory at Plattsburgh; and a poetical review of the battles of Champlain, Plattsburgh and New Orleans "…Old Hickory twigs will roast his pigs…". The text is bordered by patriotic illustrations of soldiers, eagles and ships. There are fold creases present on the document, a very small piece is missing from the lower edge which doesn't affect text, the paper has toned with age and there are water spots but again, the text is unaffected. The broadside has been professionally de-acidified. The old wooden frame is missing a few small portions of the veneer but is in otherwise sound condition. A rare item that would fit well into a Jacksonian-era collection.

Shipping: Miscellaneous Collectibles, Smal (view shipping information)

Important notice:<
