1826 $5 --Cleaned--ANACS. AU58 Details. Breen-6485, BD-1, High R.5. This is a sharply detailed piece with deep green-gold color that is accented by traces of blue and orange toning. The surfaces appear to be prooflike, a result of polished dies and light cleaning. While light hairlines are evident on each side, the overall eye appeal is quite good. This is a rare date with about 35 to 40 examples known today. Each of the dates from 1824 through 1827 are known to a similar extent, although 1825 is slightly rarer. Only 1815, 1819, 1821, 1822, 1828, and 1829 are rarer dates. There are actually two different die varieties of the date, but only three examples of the BD-2 variety are currently identified.
Ex: Stack's (10/2000), lot 1731 as "BU."

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
