This rarely encountered 1st Edition historical Book is fully titled: “Memoirs of General La Fayette, Embracing Details of His Public and Private Life, Sketches of the American Revolution, The French Revolution, The Downfall of Bonaparte, and the Restoration of the Bourbons. Barber & Robinson, Hartford, 1825.” It measures about 7.5” tall x 4.5” wide, has worn leather bound hardcovers, contains 455 pages, with Appendix and complete. Blank frontis page has a prior owners name stamp, title page has some foxing and opens to display a portrait page of Lafayette with his signature in facsimile below, overall having mostly clean internal pages. From July 1824 to September 1825, the last surviving French General of the Revolutionary War, the Marquis de Lafayette, made a tour of the 24 States in the United States. At many stops on this tour he was received by the populace with a hero's welcome, and many honors and monuments were presented to commemorate and memorialize the Marquis de Lafayette's visit. A wonderful book written in his lifetime during this historical tour of America period.
