1825 N-1 R4 PCGS AU Detail Environmental Damage
A sharp cent with great detail and nice eye appeal, but a glass shows that it is covered with extremely fine porosity, strongest in a small patch close before the lips. No marks or verdigris. Rather frosty dark steel and olive brown. MDS with a die crack through the base of the date and fine flowlines off the dentil tips. Graded EF45 net VF35 and tied for CC#6 in the Noyes census, his photo #28485. Our grade is net EF40. An imperfect cent but still one of the better examples known today, and it comes with a great provenance. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS Gold Shield label.
