1825/3<25C> PR63 ANACS. Ex: Boyd/Kern/Pittman Collections. A bold striking with pronounced reflectivity beneath layers of sunset-orange and steel-blue toning. As Akers clearly points out when this coin was sold in 1998, identification of proofs from this era is often open to interpretation. This specimen carries the weighty pedigrees of Numismatic Galleries' "World's Greatest Collection" from the holdings of F.C.C. Boyd and Mehl's "Golden Jubilee Sale" featuring the coins of Jerome Kern. In both famous sales it was identified as a proof. In part 2 of the "John Jay Pittman Collection" Akers could no further than to call it "Possibly Proof." Either way, there can be no doubt that this specimen's beauty and desirability would be difficult to match. Your inspection is recommended.
Ex: John Jay Pittman Collection (Akers, 5/98), lot 1282, where it realized $18,150.
