1825/2 25C AU55 NGC.
1825/2 25C AU55 NGC. B-1, R.5. All three Browning varieties for 1825 are overdates. The final two are 1825/4, while the present variety is an 1825/2. As such, Browning-1 earns its own Guide Book listing, and is surprisingly affordable despite the fact that it rarely appears at auction. In addition to the obvious curves of the underdigit 2, the first 8 in the date is also boldly recut. A lengthy mint-made spine from the back of the lowest arrowhead confirms the reverse die. This sharply struck piece has deeply dappled tan and lavender patina. A faint diagonal pinscratch on the cheek provides the only singularly mentionable contact. As of (12/03), NGC has certified just seven examples of Browning-1 in all grades, with a solitary AU58 as the highest certified. Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
