1825<1/2 C> C-2, B-2, R.1. Die State 1. MS62 Brown NGC. MS60 EAC. Curl extends over 2; High leaf just beyond S. The obverse and reverse are both from the early state with perfect dies. On the reverse, the stem end is fully defined, and most of the leaves are similarly sharp. This coin was cataloged by Wayte Raymond as a Proof in 1947. Indeed, the surfaces have enough reflectivity that it is easy to see how such a description came about. Unusually toned, the obverse is mostly dark brown with olive overtones and considerable original mint red through the stars. The reverse has an iridescent display with bright green and pale blue inside the wreath, a ring of original color through the leaves, and dark brown color outside of the wreath.
Ex: Wayte Raymond (2/1947), lot 62; Harold Bareford; William Bareford (5/25/1984). Envelope Included.
