1825<1/2 C> C-1, B-1, R.3. Die State 2--Environmental Damage--NCS. Unc Details. XF45 EAC. Curl centered above 5; High leaf just beyond S. Both the obverse die crack and the oval shaped lump between the bases of F and A on the reverse are visible, though both of these die state characteristics are extremely hard to see. After an intermission of 13 years, the Half Cent denomination resumed in 1825 with a recorded mintage of 63,000 coins, just 140 coins shy of the coinage total reported for 1811. Like nearly all examples of this die combination, this has the reverse die rotated, in this case approximately 45 degrees clockwise. This is a lovely example with olive-tan coloration on both sides, the obverse with deep orange highlights (not mint color), and a small area of darker brown toning along the upper right border. The reverse has considerable maroon and steel color. An attractive example and decidedly elusive in higher grades. Breen Die State III.
Ex: Bob Yuell (2/22/1999). Envelope Included.
