1824 N-4 R2 PCGS graded MS66RB.
1824 N-4 R2 PCGS graded MS66RB. PCGS graded MS-66 Red & Brown. Lustrous mint red mellowing to steel brown, nearly half the original color remaining on both sides. As close to perfection as I could imagine for an 1824 cent. The only identifying marks are a faint, nearly invisible spot of darker toning on the tip of the chin and a thin diagonal swipe of slightly darker toning close under star 12. E-MDS with microscopic die flowlines in the fields and very fine die cracks connecting star 5 to star 6 with another joining the 4 in the date to stars 13-11 nearly extending to star 10. The strike is sharp except for weakness on most of the stars where the radial lines are weak or missing. If you are looking for a top-drawer 1824 cent, this is your opportunity. Called MS70- and CC#1 in the Bland census (Del Bland doesn't throw that grade around without good reason). Noyes says MS65 choice and tied for CC#1, his photo #21718. Our grade is MS66. PCGS Population 1; none finer . Estimated Value $15,000-UP. Ex MacIntosh (Tatham) Estate 1955-Walter Breen 1956-Emanuel Taylor 10/60. Our item number 137226 "
