1824/2 10C MS65 NGC. JR-1, R.3. The sole collectible variety of the date, since JR-2 is represented by only a handful of pieces. All 1824 dimes are overdates, since one obverse die was used. Little attempt was made at the mint to efface the underdigit 2, since its knob, peak, and curve are readily evident. The 1824/2 is scarce as a date in circulated grades, and emerges as a rarity in Mint State. NGC (as of 1/07) has encapsulated just over two dozen pieces across all Mint State grades, with just one other example as MS65 and a solitary MS66 as the finest certified. The present Gem offers dusky blended lilac and forest-green colors, and shows only moderate strike incompleteness on the eagle's neck and the curls below Liberty's ear.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
