1824 1C MS64 Brown PCGS. While not a particularly rare issue in the context of the Coronet series of 1816-1857, the 1824 has a low certified population in the finer Mint State grades. The single finest Brown example known to PCGS (10/02), this lovely near-Gem displays richly toned, glossy brown surfaces. A few swirls of slightly deeper color are noted in a few areas, particularly in the left obverse field, but there is not a single abrasion that would seem to rule out an even higher grade. The otherwise sharp strike wanes a little in select peripheral areas--a not uncommon feature for the type and one that does not inhibit the impressive eye appeal. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
