<B>1823 50C Ugly 3 MS65 NGC.</B></I> O-110a, R.3. Called "Ugly 3 variety" because of the mint repair on the middle of the 3 in the date. A reverse die crack runs through the olive leaves, enters the lower part of the eagle's right (left facing) wing, and exits above before fading out. A second crack runs down from the eagle's left wing through the arrowheads and 50 C before it terminates at the rim. This Gem example displays bright luster and delicate lavender and gold-tan peripheral toning. Well centered design elements are crisply impressed, save for the star centers at the upper left border. A couple of minor obverse handling marks do not distract.
