1823 $5 MS61 PCGS. Breen-6481, BD-1, High R.4. Only one variety was produced for the year, with 80 to 100 coins surviving today, according to the estimate of John Dannreuther. Other students of the series feel that a smaller number of coins may actually exist. This design type was produced from 1813 to 1834, and the most easily obtainable dates are 1813, 1818, 1820, and 1823. This piece is a sharply struck Mint State example with brilliant green-gold surfaces and satiny luster. A few minor abrasions, especially on Liberty's face, prevent a higher grade. Population: 5 in 61, 16 finer (12/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
