1823/2<1C> N-1, R.2. AU58 NGC. XF40 EAC. A late die state with four or five dentils fused together below the date, and several more outside of stars 2 and 3. The remaining dentilation remains visible, and the overdate features are clear and sharp. This is an important date, and an instance where the overdate is actually more available than the normal date variety. Although not specifically identified in current Condition Census records, it is probably the case that this example is among the top 20 to 25 known coins. It is sharply struck with intermingled steel, olive, and chestnut color. Numerous light abrasions can be seen under a glass, yet the naked eye appearance is just fine. This popular issue is a major Guide Book variety, and is always in demand because of that listing.
Ex: George Ramont. Envelope Included.
