This is a extremely rare early 19th century Austrian porcelain dish by the Kk Aerarial Porzellan-Manufaktur Wien (Imperial and Royal Porcelain Manufactory, Vienna) commonly referred to as Royal Vienna by collectors. This dish is from the Biedermeier period in Austria. Copying French Empire style. It looks like French Old Paris porcelain. It is bird bath form with a round bowl on a square pedestal base. The porcelain dish is covered in bright polished gold gilt strips and heavy gold bands. This Classical dish would have been used for candy/bon bon or small trinkets. The dish has the under glaze blue beehive shield mark and impressed date number 822 for 1822. The Imperial and Royal Porcelain factory Vienna was founded in 1718. Emperor Karl VI awarded du Paquier a "special privilege" for the exclusive right to produce porcelain in Austria. It was the second hard paste porcelain factory in Europe, after Meissen. Du Paquier (the founder) sold the factory to the Habsburg "court" in 1744. The Austrian royalty owned and operated the factory from 1744 until it closed in 1864. At the time the factory closed, it was put under museum administration. Condition: Very good with no wear to gold. Height 4" 1/2 by 6" 1/4 wide the base is 3" 1/2 inches square.
