<B>1822 25C 25/50C--Improperly Cleaned--NCS. Fine Details.</B></I> B-2, R.5. One of the more egregious blunders from the Mint's early years. The unknown engraver was having a bad day, as he began the 50 C. denomination before realizing he was working on a quarter die. Despite the NCS caveat, the surfaces are a moderate silver-gray, neither overly shiny nor unattractive.
