1821 50C MS65 ICG. O-107, R.3. Only seven varieties are known for the Capped Bust half dollars of 1821, and the O-107 is the only one of these that garners an R.3 rarity rating. Pale blue and lilac-brown colors are displayed across both sides of this unmarked piece. It is crisply struck throughout, and exhibits fully reflective prooflike fields. Although clearly not a proof example, the mirrored appearance of the fields intersect the devices without transition, and this is one trait that is considered for proof or specimen status. Not only is this a special coin that possesses excellent eye appeal, it is also one of the finer examples of this die marriage that we know of, and should garner a price in excess of the typical value for the date.
From The Westmoreland, Virginia Collection, Part Two.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
