<B>1820 $5 Square 2 MS63 PCGS.</B></I> Breen-6476, BD-3, R.5. The present sale has two similarly graded Mint State examples of this die variety. This example is a remarkable piece with strong design motifs and highly lustrous yellow-gold surfaces that exhibit greenish tendencies. Both sides have reflective fields and the overall eye appeal is excellent.<BR> Similar to the situation with 1810 half eagles, varieties of the 1820 half eagles were a jumbled mess until John Dannreuther came along and made everything better.
