Named to Major Orbon L. Alderdice. 22" by 28" framed. Colonel Christopher R. Alderdice is the Commander of the 181st Intelligence Wing, Indiana Air National Guard, Hulman Field, Terre Haute, Indiana. Colonel Alderdice assumed command of the 181st Intelligence Wing on 4 February 2017. He is responsible for more than 900 military and civilian personnel who execute a broad spectrum of missions involving Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Air Support Operations, CBRNE Enhanced Response Force Package, and Agile Combat Support. Col. Alderdice enlisted in the Indiana Air National Guard in December of 1980 as an Aircraft Ordnance Systems Mechanic and loaded ordnance on F-4C aircraft. In 1985, he received his commission as a second lieutenant through the Academy of Military Science, McGhee-Tyson ANGB, Knoxville, Tennessee after graduating from Tri-State University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. Col. Alderdice received the aeronautical rating of Navigator in July 1986 and flew as a Weapons System Officer in the F-4D and the F-4E. He received the aeronautical rating of Pilot in April 1991 and has flown the T-37, T-38, AT-38, F4E, and F-16C. He deployed to Al Jaber Air Base, Kuwait in 1997 and flew in support of Operation Southern Watch. In 2000, Col. Alderdice was the 163rd Fighter Squadron Commander when he deployed and led the squadron to Prince Sultan Air Base, Saudia Arabia, once again, in support of Operation Southern Watch. He returned to maintenance in January of 2001 where he served as the Maintenance Operations Flight and Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Commander. He was selected as the Maintenance Group Commander in 2005. In 2006, he served as the Commander of the 332nd Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Balad Air Base, Iraq in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. He returned to Fort Wayne and served as Maintenance Group Commander for a total of eight years. Prior to his selection as Wing Commander of the 181st Intelligence Wing, Col. Alderdice served as the Mission Support Group Commander for the 122nd Fighter Wing, Fort Wayne Air National Guard Base, Fort Wayne, Indiana from May 2013
