1818 N-2 R4+ PCGS graded F12.
1818 N-2 R4+ PCGS graded F12. PCGS graded Fine-12. Glossy light chocolate brown. No corrosion or verdigris, but there are a half dozen fine hairline scratches on the obverse plus a stronger dull one across the jawline. The scratches are old and blend perfectly into the attractive toning, but they do detract from an otherwise very nice lower grade cent. Rare late die state with a raised retained cud break over NITED nearly extending to the adjacent S (actually this is two separate retained cuds divided by the radial crack to the dentils up from the center of the T). The area of this cud over IT is not raised as much as the other areas, so this is not quite the terminal state of the die. Although this cent is far from being in the condition census for the variety, it is the finest of the LDS according to the Noyes census. Our grade is F12 net VG10. PCGS Population 1; 3 finer, 1 in 58, 1 in 62BN, 1 in 64BN. Estimated Value $300-UP. Ex Henry C. Hines-Wi llard C. Blaisdell 9/76-Del Bland 9/76. Our item number 137466 "
