1818 N-10 R1 PCGS graded MS64BN.
1818 N-10 R1 PCGS graded MS64BN. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Highly lustrous sea green and light olive, a classic "Greenie." No stains or spots, only a few trivial ticks on the cheek and chin. MDS, the usual Randall Hoard die state for this variety. C. Douglas Smith was famous for many things, and one of them was his love of cents with this uniform sea green toning, what he called "Greenies." Ted's handwritten note on the envelope reads "Super Greenie kept by CDS for many years; the last of the group of 77 gem cents, Hines to Sheldon in the 50's. Traded for by Bob Shalowitz (1987?-8?) then traded to REN in exch for RSB:490 (R. S. Brown, Jr., Superior 9/30/86), an 1818 N3a off-unc + cash." Ted's envelopes often contain a lot of historical info. Called MS60 by Noyes, his photo #21557. Our grade is MS62. PCGS Population 1; none finer. Estimated Value $500-UP. Ex Henry C. Hines 1950's-Dr. William H. Sheldon & #40;traded circa 1955 in a group of 77 Hines late date cents)-C. Douglas Smith-Dr. Robert J. Shalowitz 1987 or 1988. Ted's envelope contains the face of Dorothy Paschal's envelope for this coin (so noted on Ted's envelope), so she may belong in this provenance with the boys. Our item number 137472 "
