Half Dollars 1815, 5 over 2. Overton-101. PCGS graded Very Good 10. <b>Some faint hairlines; light to medium gray toning. All 1815 half dollars -- and there were only 47,150 made -- are from a single obverse-reverse die pairing. The war with Britain, in progress since 1812, caused considerable unrest and monetary difficulties throughout the country. The invasion of the United States by British forces in mid-1814 and the burning of Washington, D.C. exacerbated the monetary stringency. As a result the mint had no deposits of silver with which to make coins. By the end of 1815, the threat had been lifted and life began to returning to normal, although half dollar coinage wouldn't begin again until 1817 due to a fire at the mint in 1816.</b> <p align="center">Superior Galleries was founded in 1929 and has been a leader in
