1814 50C MS65 NGC. O-103, R.1. This is one of the common 1814 varieties, immediately identified by the heavy vertical ridge that connects the wing to the left end of the scroll. We are unaware of any examples that do not have this feature. This Gem specimen ranks among the finer examples of the variety, despite the existence of two or three Superb quality pieces. Both sides have frosty gray-gold luster with wisps of lilac and steel toning. Most details are nicely defined, although the right wing tip is flat. Unlike most examples, there are no obvious clash marks on either side.
From The Westmoreland, Virginia Collection, Part Two.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
