<B>1814 10C Large Date MS65 NGC.</B></I> JR-2, R.3. A deeply toned Gem with intermingled ivory, golden-brown, and steel toning over frosty luster. Although it is considered a slightly scarcer variety, several Mint State examples are known. Alternatively, most of those that do exist in Mint State grades are low on the numerical scale. The obverse die was used for JR-2 in early states, and for JR-3 in later states. No evidence of obverse die bulges are apparent on this example. Two small reverse die bulges can be seen on this piece, and account for its use on this variety and no others. Census: 22 in 65, 13 finer (7/07) for all varieties.
