1814 10C Large Date MS65 NGC. JR-3, R.2. Ex: Pittman. An intermediate-late die state. The die bulge is barely noticeable around stars 1 and 2, and not developed yet around star 8. The reverse die state was probably best described by David Akers when he sold this coin at auction 10 years ago: "There is a network of die cracks within the reverse shield as well as one tiny crack running from the edge of the eagle's neck, through the beak, and continuing to the scroll below U in PLURIBUS. The coin has very noticeable clash marks on the obverse, especially at Liberty's face near the 5th and 6th stars." Weakly struck, as usual, the satiny surfaces are overlaid with rose, gray, and lilac toning. As one would expect, there are no mentionable surface flaws at this grade level.
Ex: Barney Bluestone's 90th Sale (12/1945), lot 1355, where JJP purchased it for $6.25; Pittman I (Akers, 10/97), lot 546.

Coin Engraver: John Reich

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information\)
