1813 $5 MS63 PCGS. Breen-6467, BD-2, R.4. The scarcer of the two 1813 die marriages. This was the first year of the new Capped Head To Left, Large Diameter half eagle type, which would continue through 1828. For the type, only the 1813 is considered common in Mint State, with approximately 350 pieces certified in Uncirculated grades through the combined efforts of NGC and PCGS. This example is well struck on most of the design elements, except for the eagle's leg feathers, arrow feathers, and talons, and displays substantial luster for the issue. Minor imperfections in the alloy mixture have left faint red-orange patches near the left obverse periphery; but careful preservation has left the piece with a minimal number of trivial surface blemishes for the assigned grade level. Population: 52 in 63, 56 finer (11/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
