1813 $5 MS63 NGC. Breen-6467, BD-2, R.4. This is the first year of the modified design that continued through the end of the early half eagle period in 1834. Although 1829 marked a change in diameter, the design remained essentially identical. Two varieties of 1813 half eagles are known, and both are reasonably plentiful although the BD-2 die marriage is much scarcer than BD-1. This piece is a lovely green-gold example with frosty luster and attractive pale orange toning. A few faint surface marks are visible, but they fail to diminish the eye appeal.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
