1813 $5 MS62 PCGS. Breen-6467, BD-1, R.2. The eye appeal of this coin immediately grabs the viewer, and is engendered by both intense mint frost and beautiful, light green-gold toning that changes to bright canary-yellow near the peripheries. Not all of the denticles are fully on the planchet, and two or three of the obverse stars are slightly weak, but most of the remaining design elements are very crisply achieved. An adjustment mark (as struck) that bisects Liberty's face affects the overall visual quality of the piece, but theoretically should not have impaired the coin's technical (numerical) grade assessment by PCGS. This was the first issue of the Capped Head to Left design type of John Reich, which was to last for a mere 16 years.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
