1813 $5 MS62 PCGS. Breen-6467, BD-1, R.2. Widespread melting had a dramatic impact on the survival rate of this series, and among Capped Bust, Small Bust half eagles, the BD-1 variety of the 1813 is the only one Dannreuther and Bass term "readily available." This early gold issue is hardly the average type coin, though, and any available example, no matter how worn or impaired, is sought-after. The present Mint State example is sure to find a home in a worthy collection. The amber-gold surfaces have frosty luster and a blush of peach-rose. Areas of deeper orange-bronze are noted at the lower reverse periphery. The strike is above-average, and only a small number of light to moderate abrasions preclude a Select or better grade. Appealing and important.
From The Hill Country Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
