1812<50C> MS66 NGC. Ex: Foxfire. O-103, R.1. Forest-green, lemon-gold, and gunmetal-lilac toning graces the obverse. The reverse patina is equally impressive, and features plum, aquamarine, and peach swaths. Cartwheel luster dominates both sides, and the fields are unusually smooth. Faint marks near the cheekbone and on the neck are only detected under a strong glass. Well struck on the major devices and left borders, while the right side stars are soft, as made from slightly misaligned dies. The O-103 variety is readily attributed by a series of parallel vertical die lines beneath the eagle's beak. This example has a faint die crack from the U in UNITED through 50 C. This relatively lengthy die crack was known to Overton, and he states it is present on some but not all pieces, yet he failed to designate an "a" die state for those with the crack.
