1811<1C> S-287, B-1, R.2. AU58 NGC. XF40 EAC. This appears to be an intermediate die state with a bulge to the right of the date only, equivalent to Breen's State III. However, minor rim crumbling is also present along the left obverse border. Possibly as many as a dozen Mint State examples of this variety exist, per Bland's Census, or just half a dozen such coins according to Bill Noyes. The majority of survivors are dark and rough, or have various problems of one sort or another. Aside from a few tiny rim ticks on the reverse, this is a remarkable example with smooth olive-brown surfaces. A small area of maroon color, representing the slightest corrosion, is noted at the upper left of the obverse.
Ex: George Ramont (1/1/1967). Envelope Included.
