THE THING (1982) - R.J. MacReady's (Kurt Russell) Shotgun and Lantern with Monsterpalooza Statue Display Replica - R.J. MacReady's (Kurt Russell) shotgun and lantern from John Carpenter's The Thing with a MacReady statue display replica from Monsterpalooza.

MacReady carried his shotgun and lantern with him to investigate the Norwegian base with Dr. Copper (Richard Dysart).

This lot consists of an airsoft pump-action shotgun with a moveable safety switch and trigger, a Coleman Peak 1 gas lamp with a glass globe and a metal base, and an ornately detailed fiberglass and silicone statue of MacReady created by renowned collectibles sculptor Howard Senft's Howard S. Studios as a display for Monsterpalooza 2017.

The statue is applied with a brown synthetic hair wig and beard and dressed with a brown leather cowboy hat with a braided leather band and an orange cinching ribbon, a fur-lined black leather zip-front jacket, matching gloves, a gray cotton hoodie, green khaki pants, and black leather lace-up boots, all of which are replicas modeled on the production originals. The pants and boots are intentionally distressed by production with grime and white paint spatter made to resemble the residue of brutal Antarctic elements.

The statue comes mounted through the feet to a bloodied wooden display stand also applied with faux snow. It exhibits some creasing in the jacket and hat, while the shotgun and lantern exhibit discoloration, a buildup of grime, and scuffing from production use and age. Dimensions: 35" x 30" x 70" (89 cm x 76.25 cm x 178 cm)
