1810<50C> MS62 PCGS. O-104a, R.3. Most easily recognized by the light vertical lines in the field between the left wing and eagle's head. Also, there is a die defect lump at the upper edge of the shield that extends downward to crossbar 3. The later die state is recognized by virtue of faint die cracks, from the tip of the bust to star 4 on the obverse, and over D STAT on the reverse, where reduced milling is also diagnostic. Sharply struck and deeply toned with strong underlying mint luster. A small group of tiny planchet laminations (as struck) on Liberty's cheekbone, and in the upper left obverse field, probably account for the less-than-Select grade level. Although designated as R.3., we have seen very few examples of this variety.
