1810<1/2 C> C-1, B-1, R.1. Die State 1. XF45 NGC. VF30 EAC. Lower curve of 0 recut; High leaf beyond S. A single variety year from a reported mintage of 215,000, although some consider the actual mintage higher, including some of the 63,140 pieces reported for 1811. Others have suggested that there are too many 1811s in relation to the actual mintage figures. This example is from a late stage of the die life with most of the peripheral detail extremely weak due to die wear. The die cracks on both the obverse and the reverse are now extremely weak and hardly evident. Although lightly worn, this example may be finer than graded, for the flowlined dies created considerable weakness, resulting in a coin that is very difficult to grade. Olive and black-walnut with hints of grayish-brown color on the devices. Generally hard and smooth surfaces with a few small corrosion spots on the reverse. A tiny reverse rim nick is located at 5:30. Two individual hair curls below the ear have miniscule bright copper areas, really visible only with magnification. Although finer examples of this date exist, the Reiver Collection specimen is pleasing and desirable. Breen Die State IV. Envelope Included.
