1809 C-3 R1 F12
1809 C-3 R1 F12. Double Struck. Slightly sharper with a collection of hairline scratches through HALF. No verdigris or additional marks, but the surfaces are a bit dull from uniform extremely faint roughness that covers both sides. Frosty chocolate and steel. LDS, Manley state 2.0, with the reverse rotated about 15 degrees CW. Double struck. Both strikes were centered on the planchet but rotated 5-10 degrees between the impressions. The result is an intoxicating appearance that makes it look like there are far more than 13 stars. Both sides show extensive doubling. Another really neat mint error.
Estimated Value $300-UP.

Provenance: Ex Cornell University collection, Stack's 5/30/1975:528 (lot envelope included).
