<B>1809/8 $5 MS61 NGC.</B></I> Breen-6458, BD-1, High R.3. Ex: Reed. The overdate is the only half eagle variety coined in 1809. Faint hairlines are visible on both sides of this satiny bright yellow piece, limiting the grade. Otherwise, the luster, strike, and eye appeal all suggest a higher Mint State grade.<BR> Faint die cracks connect the lower left and right stars, the reverse has light clash marks; an intermediate die state. The overdate status is questioned by some, including John Dannreuther and the late Harry Bass.
