1808 C-3 R1 VG10
1808 C-3 R1 VG10. Double Struck Off Center. Slightly sharper but there is a stain on the head and two specks of white substance in the field above the bust tip. Otherwise the toning is a decent glossy chocolate brown mixed with some lighter brown tones on the reverse. EDS, Manley state 1.0, with the reverse rotated 75 degrees CW. Double struck. The initial strike was centered and the second was positioned about 75% off center leaving strong undertype at ERICA. The undertype includes the second A in AMERICA (at the top of the centered second A in AMERICA) plus strong elements of the wreath and ribbon adjacent to that A. The obverse was struck against a new blank planchet during the second strike leaving a strong impression left of the portrait. Another obvious mint error.
Estimated Value $250-UP.

Provenance: Ex J. L. Brobston collection, Stack's over the counter 1/27/1981 (the Brobston envelope from Stack's is included).
