<B>1808/7 $5 AU58 NGC.</B></I> Wide Date, Breen-6454, BD-1, R.6. An extremely scarce die marriage that is immediately recognized the rim-to-rim vertical die crack that bisects the obverse. Less than 30 pieces are estimated to survive in all grades, including two coins in the Bass holdings that were kept with the core collection. As further evidence of its rarity, the only 1808/7 Wide Date offered by Heritage was a net-graded jewelry piece sold more than five years ago. It is believed that so few BD-1s exist because the obverse die almost immediately shattered and was soon discarded. This lovely near-Mint example is well detailed and essentially void of distractions.
