1808<1/2 C> Normal Date. C-3, B-3, R.1. Die State 5. VF20 NGC. VG10 EAC. Normal date, tall final 8; Right stem extended to A. Walter Breen recorded one later die state, with "rim crumbling at several places on obverse." Given the extremely weak nature of the obverse border in these late states, we do not see how it would be possible to observe such rim crumbling. Not only is this example one of the latest die states recorded, it is unusual in that the reverse is not rotated. Many different die rotations have been recorded in the various die states, as discussed by Ron Manley on page 195 of his reference. Lovely chocolate and olive-brown surfaces with a modicum of abrasions as usually seen at the grade level. A small rim bump is visible at 9:30 on the obverse. Breen Die State VII. Envelope Included.
