1807 50C Draped Bust AU58 PCGS. O-108, R.3. The engraver punched star 7 into the die with counterclockwise rotation, so that it points above the base of L. Similarly, star 8 points well above the base of Y, and nearly touches star 9. Reverse F is missing the right base of the F in OF; it was used for 1807 O-108, 109, and 110, and earlier for 1806 O-117, where it was called Reverse M.
A frosty near-Mint piece, with ivory surfaces that are enhanced by rich peripheral gold toning. The typical blunt strike is apparent at the lower obverse and upper reverse.
This example is third finest of those pieces known to us, an important representative of the variety.
Haseltine-5, Overton-17, PCGS # 6079, Encyclopedia-4594.
From The Westmoreland County Collection of Early Bust Halves, 1794-1807.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
